Couch and coffee table
Living room elf ideas
The living room already has a stage. A couch, an ottoman, a stack of coasters, and a pack of cards will carry a week. The elf can use those and be done. You do not have to move the coffee table or build a fort on a Monday. Put the doll where a tail will not sweep it to the floor and where a toddler will not need to climb. The back of the couch, the ottoman, and the coffee table are enough. If the family will sit there in the morning, leave a path. A pillow summit can lean on the arm of the couch so the seats still work. Skip tinsel, marbles, coins, and string lights on the rug. A paper fish in an empty saucer is plenty of pond, and the saucer should not be the one under a real plant. Cards stay few and face up, with the rest of the deck back in the box. The note can call the game kindness. That is as naughty as this room needs to be. Window notes peel off. Blind cords stay untouched. An empty mug on the sill is a lookout, not a drink left behind.
Furniture you can still use
Stack pillows against an arm, not across every seat. Leave coasters free if someone will need a drink before the kids wake. The elf can hold the end of a scarf on the back of the couch and still let people sit. Test it by sitting down once.
Paper, not pieces
Paper binoculars, a paper fish, and four playing cards are the small things in this room. Tape lives on the paper, not on the wall. Pick up the tube or the fish when the joke is over so it does not become tomorrow's vacuum problem.
A quiet goodbye here
A compass on a closed book points north without a paper-airplane fleet. A forecast note on the window explains a forgotten move. Both stay on the table or the glass, and both come down after breakfast.
